Robust DWDM Optical Networks Design using Genetic Algorithms

چکیده

In this paper, a wavelength allocation algorithm to design robust optical transport networks based on a variable length genetic algorithm is presented. The routing and wavelength assignment problem is solved for different demand conditions and the method is shown to be highly effective in delivering an outcome that is superior to deterministic design but without the full overhead of extremely conservative wavelength provision. Savings of the provision of wavelengths are demonstrated, confirming the utility of the approach for capacity planning.
